exmouth air services experience

unprecedented growth in 2011

2011 has been a great year for air services in Exmouth with residents proving the overall winner. The current schedules of Skywest and Qantas show 18 flights per week which is a large increase in frequency for the route. With the competitive pricing by the two airlines Exmouth has never been more accessible or affordable to reach by air.

Traditionally Skywest has been the only operator on the route with their one per day flight schedule, and the use of a 100 seat Fokker 100 aircraft. This was due to the industry regulations that gave flights to the North West Cape protected status. After calls by community and business groups the area was deregulated in mid January 2011 opening up the route to healthy competition and providing a much needed boost to passenger capacity.

Skywest F100

In March of 2011 QantasLink joined Skywest in offering flights between Perth and Exmouth with a 115 seat Boeing B717 jet aircraft three times a week. Demand for Qantas' services has been steady prompting the airline to introduce a Q400 to the route. Recently the Qantas Manager of Regional Western Australia, Adrian Boys, stated "Since starting services on Monday 21 November, the Q400 on Monday and Wednesday has been operating well. As from 01 January we commence our 11 services per week Q400 operation offering excellent connections to / from the East Coast".

Qantas Q400

Some great deals on airfares have been offered this year with both Skywest and Qantas keen to promote travel to Exmouth. An introductory special by Qantas saw fares drop as low as $99 each way. Skywest often has $159 online specials and Qantas often have flight sales at $129 or $119. To keep up to date with the latest offers like us on Facebook or follow us on Twitter.
